Harrow Civic Centre is a sprawling, modern municipal building which stands behind Station Road, in Harrow, Middlesex. It is the headquarters of Harrow Council, for whom it was built.
History
Before the civic centre was built, the modern Harrow Council did not have purpose-built municipal offices.[1] The new building was designed by Eric G. Broughton, built by F.G. Minter and opened as Harrow Civic Centre in May 1973.[1][2] It is a square concrete structure in a modernist style with a courtyard at the centre.
In October 2014, as part of its regeneration strategy, the council announced proposals to move its headquarters to a more modern facility in Wealdstone and to release the civic centre site for residential use.[3] However, in March 2019, it indicated that there would be delays[4] and, in July 2019, the council decided to find a regeneration partner to help to expedite the development.[5]
