Greenham is a little village in Berkshire, close to the bounds of Hampshire. The growth of Newbury to the north-west has threatened to overwhelm Greenham, which is now at the edge of Newbury's unbroken townscape, though Greenham remains distinct as yet, and has its own parish council.
The manor of Greenham is recorded in the Domesday Book, as Greneham.[1]
RAF Greenham Common
The site of the former Royal Air Force airbase, RAF Greenham Common, is to the south-east of the village, surrounded by the Common which covers most of the parish.
Racecourse
Newbury Racecourse is in Greenham.
