Government House is the official residence of the Governor of Anguilla, and is located in 'Old Ta' on Anguilla.
The building was first built in 1969 (when he island was part of the colony of St Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla), and it was substantially modernised in 1974. It became the residence of a Governor when Anguilla was created a separate colony in 1980.
As well as being the residence of the Governor of Anguilla and his family, Government House is used for national and ceremonial functions, as well as receptions and meetings with visiting dignitaries and heads of state. It serves as the official residence of the Queen when staying in Anguilla.
