Gartmore is a village in the very south of Perthshire, nestled up against the border of Stirlingshire, marked by a minor burn beyond the edge of the village. The village is just over a mile from the uppermost reach of the River Forth, on a minor rise above the Carse of Forth, with a view eastwards to the Wallace Monument in Stirling, almost 25 miles away.
The great house of Gartmore is Gartmore House, halfway between the village and the river.
The village is a mile from the A81 Glasgow to Aberfoyle road, three miles south of Aberfoyle. The Rob Roy Way walking route passes nearby.
Close by the Forth, beside the A81, is Gartartan, a hamlet of barely more than Gartartan Farm and a house. The A81 rosses the Forth here.
