Frog Island, Essex

Frog Island is an uninhabited island on the north bank of the River Thames in Essex.

Uses

It has the mechanical biological treatment works of the East London Waste Authority.[1] The facility turns 50% of processed waste into refuse-derived fuel, and recovers metals and glass.[2] Now the area is separated by a ditch and forms a slight depression relative to the bank at only 6ft 6 in Above Ordnance Datum however was a more well-defined island at high tide at the mouth of the River Ingrebourne, that rises as the Weald Brook.[3]

Phoenix Wharf on the island has safeguarded wharf status.
