Fleet is a tiny village in southern Dorset, two miles west of Weymouth and separated from Chickerell by Fleet Common. The village is named for the Fleet, the lagoon caught behind Chesil Beach.
The parish church is Holy Trinity.
J Meade Falkner's smuggling novel, Moonfleet is set in Fleet. Moonfleet Manor is situated in the village of Fleet.
On 24 November 1824 strong winds and a storm surge caused waves to breach Chesil Beach, and many of the buildings in the village were destroyed.
