Fanny Fox’s Cottage is an eighteenth century single-storey cottage on Governors Alley in St George's. The house is a Grade 1 listed building,[1] and in the care of the Bermuda National Trust.
The cottage is found at the northern end of the historic town. The oldest part of the building is a two-room gable-roofed structure believed to have been built about 1707.
The name 'Fox's Cottage' arises from its ownership by Benjamin Fox and his wife, Frances Zuill, known as Fanny. The story is told that their marriage only lasted one night, but in any case he left the house to her in his will.
The cottage was purchased by the Historical Monuments Trust in May 1951, later passing to the Trust. The house is not opened to the public.
