Enderby is a village in Leicestershire, on the south-western outskirts of the city of Leicester. The parish includes the neighbourhood of St John's, which is east of the village separated from it by the M1 motorway.

The village is either side of the B4114 between Fosse Shopping Park and Narborough. The parish includes the out-of-town retain parks of Fosse Shopping Park and Grove Farm Triangle, the business park, Grove Park and Everards Brewery.

The course of the Fosse Way, an important Roman road, passes through the parish.

Near St John's is the deserted village of Alderby, by the River Soar.

About the village

Though much is new in all the parishes around Leicester, Enderby retains much of charm. On Broad Street stands a 16th-century thatched cruck cottage, which is now a bank, and Grade II listed.[1]

Enderby has a leisure centre with swimming pool, gym, squash courts and sports hall. There is also a nine-hole pay-and-play golf course.

A disused railway line known locally as 'Whistle Way' is north of the village, and has since become the western edge of the Enderby and Narborough areas. This branch line used to link the now disused Enderby Warren Quarry with the Birmingham to Peterborough Line about half a mile southwest of Narborough railway station. There was neither a passenger service nor an Enderby station.

The village centre has a newsagents, petrol station, florists, beauty salon, delicatessen, library, café, bookmakers, and hand car wash. It has two "Co-operative Food" stores within yards of each other, one owned by Midlands Co-operative Society Limited and another by Co-operative Group Limited.

Fosse Shopping Park at Enderby (named after the Fosse Way) is one of Britain's biggest out-of-town shopping parks.[2]

The head office of clothing retailer Next plc is located in Enderby.[3]
