Dragley Beck is a hamlet in Lancashire.
This tiny place was the birthplace of Sir John Barrow (1764-1848). After active posts in China and the Cape Colony and elsewhere, Barrow serving as Second Secretary to the Admiralty for forty years and who was one of the founders of the Royal Geographical Society, encouraging worldwide exploration in both capacities.[1]
