Downham is a small village and ancient parish in the Barnstable Hundred of Essex. It is located approximately seven miles south of the county town of Chelmsford. The closest two towns are Billericay, three miles west-south-west, and Wickford, two-and-a-half miles south-east.
The village is close to Hanningfield Reservoir.
There is an Indian/Thai restaurant in the former public house.
Downham has approximately 200 households.[1]
