Dooish Mountain stands among the Derryveagh Mountains of County Donegal, looking down over Lough Veagh to the east, and Glenveagh in which the lough lies. Its name is from the Gaelic An Dubhais, meaning 'the black ridge'. Its summit is at 2,137 feet above sea level.
This is the highpoint of a jumble of peaks beside Lough Veagh. Its northern slopes are boggy, steep and inhospitable, until the dry, rocky summit is reached. It looks out over Errigal, Donegal's county top and to the Aghlas, Muckish and further mountains.
