Dippenhall is a rural hamlet in south-western Surrey, just 500 yards or so from the border of Hampshire to the west. The closest town, Farnham, is about a mile and a half east of the village.

Dippenhall Farm stands on the border and the old Parish of Dippenhall is on the Hampshire side, while today’s hamlet is wholly in Surrey.

History

Main article: Dippenhall, Hampshire

The manor of Dippenhall was over in Hampshire, in the Crondall Hundred[1] and was recognised as a tything owned by Winchester Cathedral until a period of release in the Middle Ages.

The architect Harold Falkner built Burles Lodge to the north of the hamlet, on the Surrey side, in the 1930s.

In 1982 the contents of Dippenhall Grange were sold at Sotheby's and a comprehensive guide to these was published.[2]
