North West Hampshire

Deane is a small village in northern Hampshire, to the west of Basingstoke. The source of the River Test is just to the west of Deane.

The main railway line between Basingstoke and Andover runs to the north of the village. A long-distance walking route, the Wayfarers Walk, runs through the village.

Church

The parish church is All Saints, a neo-Gothic edifice, which is part of the Benefice of North Waltham, Steventon, Ashe and Deane.

The church dates from 1818, with later alterations, replacing a medieval church which stood on the site. The western tower with its crenellated parapet and crocketted pinnacles is a striking, picturesque feature.
