Cruachan Hills
The Cruachan Hills are a compact group in Lorn, in Argyllshire. They are grouped between Loch Etive (a sea loch) to the west, Loch Awe to the south ad Glen Orchy to the east. The Bridge of Orchy Hills are a natural continuation of them to the north, divided by Glen Kinglass.
There are four munros in the group, and five additional munro tops. The northern peaks are Beinn Eunaich and Beinn a' Chochuill on one, high ridge and to the south stand Stob Diamh and Ben Cruachan, joined by a ridge, with the additional tops lie, all looking down from the height on the Cruachan Reservoir.
Within Ben Cruachan is the world's first high head reversible pumped storage hydroelectric scheme, housed in a gigantic man-made cavern hollowed into the lower reaches of the mountain. There is a visitor centre on the shores of Loch Awe.
The munros of the group are:
- Ben Cruachan, 3,694 feet
- Stob Diamh, 3,274 feet
- Beinn Eunaich, 3,245 feet
- Beinn a' Chochuill, 3,215 feet
