Information |
Cox Green Footbridge is a footbridge spanning the River Wear in County Durham, linking Cox Green and Washington Staithes. The bridge opened in 1958, replacing a former ferry, known as the Barmston Ferry. The ferry closed in 1956.
Washington I.C.I. chemical works was once near the north side of the river but now the new town of Washington covers the area and the footbridge provides a link to it. There are riverside walks on both sides.
