Catcher Icefall

Catcher Icefall is an icefall near head of Elephant Cove, between the cove and Bomford Peak on the south side of South Georgia.

The icefall is, following British Antarctic Survey geological work in the area, 1972-74, the icefall was named after the ships used for whaling. Satellite imagery in 2002 showed that the ice fall had undergone considerable retreat.
