Carrick is a village within the civil parish of Glencolmcille in County Donegal. Carrick is to be found between neighbouring villages of Glencolmcille, Meenanary, Teelin and Kilcar. As of the 2016 census, the population of the village was 265.
Nearby is Slieve League, the highest sea cliff in the British Isles and indeed in Europe.
The name of the village is from the Irish An Charraig: 'The rock'.[1]
About the village
The village has a post office as well as a number of pubs, shops and coffee shops.
The Roman Catholic church in the village is dedicated to St Columba ('Saint Colm Cille'), and was built in the 1850s. There are also a national school and the secondary school, Coláiste na Carraige.
