Carlton is a hamlet in the North Riding of Yorkshire,two miles north of Helmsley (the latter a village in Rye Dale). Carlton sits on a single lane on a ridge between two small, wooded dales; Ash Dale to the west and Riecal Dale to the east.
Prominent in Carlton is the neo-Gothic former village church, St Aidan's, which has been converted for holiday lets. The old church is a Grade II* listed building.[1] The church was built in 1884-1887 by Temple Lushington Moore.
The Tabular Hills Walk, a local walking route, runs through the village.
