Canford Magna is a village in south-eastern Dorset, siting just south of the River Stour between the towns of Wimborne Minster and Poole. The western edge of the village merges with the residential suburb of Merley and the village community of Oakley.

In the village is Canford School, a boarding school which was previously the mansion and estate of Lord Wimborne.

Parish church

The parish church in the village, simply named Canford Magna Parish Church, the oldest building in Canford by far: parts of it are nearly a thousand years old.[1]

Society and sport

A golf club lies on the edge of the village and of the school.[2]

The village has a mixture of thatch and brick buildings, mostly serving as residences for teaching staff.[3]

The village school was built in 1866 and now serves as the youth club for Canford and Merley.[4]
