Burton-le-Coggles, otherwise known as Burton Coggles is a small village in Kesteven, the south-western art of Lincolnshire. It is found seven miles south of Kesteven’s main town, Grantham, between the B1176 road and the East Coast Main Line.
Parish church
The parish church, St Thomas of Canterbury (or Thomas a Becket) is of the 12th and early 13th centuries and has an Early English Gothic spire. Further additions were made in the Georgian period and in 1874 it underwent a restoration. The church is a Grade II listed building.[1][2]
William Ayscough, the Trinity College-educated brother of Hannah Ayscough and uncle of Isaac Newton was the rector of the village church in the 17th century.
Community
Until recently the village retained a post office on Post Office Lane. The village public house is the Cholmeley Arms. There is a small village hall. Other local services are in Corby Glen.
