Burr Point

Burr Point is a point on the coast of the Ards Peninsula of County Down which the easternmost point of mainland Ireland, at longitude 5.43ºW.
The point is within the townland of Ballyhalbert. It is a little more than a mile southeast of the village of Ballyhalbert.[1]
The name of the place is from the old Gaelic word bior, meaning 'point'.
Beyond Burr Point, the most easterly point of all is Big Bow Meel Island, a rock situated 1,000 yards off the Ards Peninsula, at longitude 5.42ºW.[1]
