Burnfoot is a Roxburghshire hamlet which has been subsumed within Hawick to become in essence a housing estate. Burnoot is to be found just east of the Boonraw Burn.
Two neighbouring villages swallowed within Hawick's townscape are Wilton Dean and Stirches.
Burnfoot was built as a council estate between the 1950s and 1970s and is now mostly owned by the Scottish Borders Housing Association and Waverley Housing, two social landlords: it is the poorest part of Hawick, with relatively high rates of social deprivation and its attendant problems.[1]
Other places nearby include Appletreehall, Burnhead, Burnhead Tower, Kirkton, and Galalaw.
