Data

Bryde Island lies on the west side of Paradise Harbour, on the Danco Coast of Graham Land in the British Antarctic Territory.

The island was roughly charted by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition on 10-11 February 1898 and named Île Bryde, probably after Ingvald Bryde (b. 1860), the Norwegian agent who arranged the purchase of the expedition ship Belgica. Corrections to the chart of the island were made by the British Antarctic Expedition of 1920-22, from information supplied by whalers. The island was photographed from the air by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition in 1956-57.
