Brumby is a town now entirely absorbed into Scunthorpe, in the north of Lincolnshire.
Old Brumby is immediately south of Scunthorpe town centre: to the east is New Brumby and to the west Brumby Grove. Brumby Common is the countryside from the edge of the town to the River Trent.
James Ingram and John Giles, in their edition of the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, assume Brumby to have been Brunanburh, where Athelstan's mightiest victory was fought.
