Bradoge River

The Bradoge River is a minor river which flows for the most part in Fermanagh, and on its course it marks that county's westernmost point.

The river rises in the west of the county, in the townland of Gortnalee, close by other streams which flow respectively north to the River Erne and south to Lough Melvin, but the Bradoge manages throughout its length to keep away form both these waters. It flows westward through the Barony of Magheraboy and the Parish of Inishmacsaint and at Laughill Bridge it begins a remarkably straight stretch to the west in the townland of Manger Beg.

For 500 yards or so, the river marks the border between Fermanagh and County Leitrim in the Republic of Ireland to the south, until at Bradoge Bridge it reaches the westernmost point of Fermanagh, which is also the westernmost point of the inhabited parts of the United Kingdom.

Immediately after passing out of the United Kingdom, the Bradoge River passes under Bradoge Bridge, and from here it marks the boundary between two Irish counties: Leitrim to the south and Donegal to the north. The latter boundary departs the river after a while and the river, now wholly in Donegal, enters Donegal Bay at Bundoran.
