Botallack is a village in western Cornwall, along the B3306 road which connects St Ives to the A30 road.
The village is in a former tin mining area situated between the town of St Just and the village of Pendeen.
About the village
The Botallack Mine, a set of former tin mines, are to be found low down the cliffs north of Botallack. The 1975 BBC television series Poldark was filmed partly in Botallack, using Manor Farm as Nampara.[1]
The Botallack Count House stands close by: built around 1861 this house served as the residence and offices for the Captain and staff of the Botallack Mine, and as the centre for the mine accounts. Mine workers would come here month by month to receive their wages. Today it is in the care of the National Trust.
Lae Maen Veor (Cornish: Legh Men Veur meaning great stone ledge), or Botallack Head, is a headland to the north west of Botallack.
