Berrier Hill (1,171 feet) and the Greystoke Forest stand to the north.

Name

The name 'Berrier' means 'hill shieling', from the Old English beorg ('hill') and the Old Norse erg meaning 'shieling' or 'hill pasture'.

'Murrah' nearby is a compound of the Old English mor', 'marsh' or 'moor', and the Old Norse (v)rá, meaning 'nook' or 'corner'.[1]
