The mouth of the Belham River

The Belham River on the isle of Montserrat rises in the centre of the island, on the northern slopes of the Soufrière Hills, and flows westward to the sea south of Old Town. It forms the boundary between the Parishes of Saint Peter to the north and Saint Anthony to the south, and inland a part of the boundary of St Anthony with Saint George's

The name of the river is a corruption of the name 'Balham', a plantation on the south of the river, previously The River Estate. The river was known as 'Old Road River' until at least 1900.

The river was severely affected by the eruptions of the Soufrière Hills, becoming clogged with volcanic debris. The golf course by the mouth of the river was buried beneath ash
