Balmirmer is a hamlet in Angus, standing two miles northeast of Carnoustie and four miles west of Arbroath.
At Balmirmer is West Balmirmer Farm, the birthplace (in 1891) of Margaret Fairlie, a gynecologist and academic who was the first woman to hold a university chair in Scotland.[1]
