Ashcombe is a little village in the south-east of Devon, about six miles north of Teignmouth and eight miles due south of Exeter. The parish had a population of 77 according to the 2001 census.
The village stands on the south-eastern side of the Haldon hills in the valley of the stream known as Dawlish Water, which reaches the sea at Dawlish. The Forestry Commission's Zigzag Wood is just north of Ashcombe.
The village is recorded in Domesday Book.[1]
Parish church
The parish church is St Nectan's. It has 13th-century lancet windows[2] and a 14th-century chancel arch. The oak seats were carved in the 16th century.
