Achnairn is a village in Sutherland, standing on the east side of Loch Shin, four miles north of Lairg (the village at the southern end of the loch). It is within the parish of Shinness. Immediately south-east is a hamlet equally small: Achfrish.
Hut circles on the slopes hereabouts testify to ancient occupation, and a monument stands in the wood. Modernity it catered for with a campsite by Achnairn. There is little else to be seen, though in such a landscape no more should be asked.
