Well End is a hamlet which lies on the edge of Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.
The village has a notable pub, the Mops and Brooms, whose name has given rise to legends. One says that it the site of a battle between travellers and village folk, while another explanation is that it commemorates mop weddings and broomstick weddings which once took place there.[1]
Others report that "The Mops and Brooms" is a modern name and that within living memory it was called "The Lord Nelson".
