Springthorpe is a village in Lindsey, the northern part of Lincolnshire. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 138. It is found about four miles east of the town of Gainsborough.
Springthorpe is listed in Domesday Book as "Springetorp", with 21 households and a church.[1]
The limestone parish church, St Lawrence and St George, is a Grade I listed building dating from the 11th century, and restored in 1865. The font is of the 13th-century.[2]
A deserted mediæval village known as "Sturgate" or "Stourgate" was situated in the parish, and was documented from the end of the 12th century.[3]
