Langley is a hamlet in northern Hertfordshire. It is found four miles south of Hitchin on the B656 road.
Langley lies west of Stevenage, a large New Town, and east of St Paul’s Walden, a pretty village more in keeping with it.
The name of Langley is a common one, from the Old English lang leag; "long meadow" and indeed there are two more in Hertfordshire; the sister towns of Abbots Langley and Kings Langley to the south, with which Langley has no connection.
