Goytre has a canal wharf and visitor centre on the [[Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal]], built on the site of an old lime kiln, complete with interactive sculptures. The [[Llanover]] private estate owns the surrounding land. Goytre has a Fish and Chip shop, a pub, a convenience store and a Post Office.

Goetre Fawr is a parish in the very heart of Monmouthshire. Situated north-east of Pontypool, it contains the villages of Little Mill and Penperlleni as well as Goytre itself. The civil parish was originally formed in 1935 by combining the areas of the ancient parishes of Goytre and Mamhilad. The population was 2,335 in 2001[1]
