Castle Hill near the hamlet of Woolleigh Barton in Devon is a hill of 348 feet which forces the River Torridge into a tight loop a little upstream of Great Torrington. It is the second of two small hills called ‘Castle Hill’ here; the other being a hill at the edge of Great Torrington just under two miles to the north-west. Both are the site of Iron Age hill forts.
The fort site at Woolleigh Barton has visible earthworks forming a ring at the summit of Castle Hill.[1] It is smaller than its namesake neighbour in the town.
