Lemsford is a village in Hertfordshire near Welwyn Garden City, but separated from it by the A1(M) and the River Lea. Lemsford stands some 3 miles north of Hatfield, on the southeast side of Brocket Hall Park. The fame of the village is its large mill on the River Lea (which is now the headquarters of Ramblers Worldwide Holidays}.
The parish church was erected in 1859 and stands as a memorial to the sixth Earl Cowper. It is built in the Early English and Decorated styles, with a good east window, also to the memory of the Earl. The tower stands in the west, lofty and with a crenelated top.
Brocket Hall, north of the village and across the river, served as a maternity hospital during Second World War.
