West Island is a small island in the north of Diego Garcia, an atoll of the British Indian Ocean Territory.
The island lies in the mouth of the sea passage into the lagoon in the very north of the ring-reef of Diego Garcia, on the same reef awash stretching from the end of the main island, with the passage known as Main Pass to its east, separating West Island from Middle Island to the east.
