Oceana Nunatak
Oceana Nunatak is counted amongst the Seal Nunataks, where the Oscar II Coast and Nordenskjöld Coast meet, on the east side of Graham Land in the British Antarctic Territory.
This peak rises to 886 feet at north-west end of Robertson Island: it is the easternmost of the Seal Nunataks.
This feature was roughly charted as an island by Larsen, 11 December 1893, and later named 'Oceana-Insel' after A/S Oceana, a sealing and whaling company formed in 1887 by the Norwegian Christen Christensen (frm whom Christensen Nunatak is named) and the German C. Lindenberg (from whom Lindenberg Island is named), which despatched the Norewegian Whaling Expedition of 1892-93. The feature was surveyed by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition, 8 October 1902, and shown to be a nunatak.
The nunatak was resurveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 'Hope Bay' in August 1947.
