Purdy Point
Purdy Point is a headland marking the eastern end of Ommanney Bay on the north coast of Coronation Island amongst the South Orkney Islands in the British Antarctic Territory.
Following a survey by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Signy in 1956-58, this point was named after John Purdy (1773-1843), a leading hydrographer of his day, who compiled numerous nautical directories and charts (including the South Orkney Islands), the forerunners of Admiralty sailing directions.
