Hamerton is a small and attractive village in Huntingdonshire, with colourful lime-washed cottages along the lane. For grand houses, the old Rectory. Manor Farm, Grange Farm and Rookery Farm, all fine old period houses are here, and by the former are the remains of an old manor of which the ditches of the moat are still to be seen.
The village stands on the Alconbury Brook near Winwick and south of Steeple Gidding.
Hamerton Zoo is on the north side of the village.
Parish church
The parish church is All Saints' Church. It is a Grade II listed building, built in the 13th centry, with the chancel, nave, north and south aisles, and south porch probably of the early 14th century, and the clerestory, west tower and aisle rebuilt in late 15th century. The south clerestory and porch repaired or rebuilt in 1707, chancel partly rebuilt in 1796 with new steep roof replacing former flat roof.
The church underwent a Victorian restoration in 1854, and the chancel was last repaired in 1986-7. It has many interesting features, accreted over the centuries it has stood lookin after the village.
