Ewhurst is a sparse hamlet in northern Hampshire, six mile north-west of Basingstoke. The nearest village of any size is Kingsclere three miles to the north-west, while a small village, Ramsdell sits a mile to the north-east. The A339 Basingstoke to Newbury road skirts the southern edge of the hamlet.
The village appears in a document of 1023 as "Ywyrstæ stigel", and is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as "Werste": later, in 1242, it is recorded as "Ywhurst" in 1242.[1]
The parish church, St Mary, dates from 1682.
