Brampton is a village now absorbed within the town of Chesterfield in north-eastern Derbyshire. Originally a village on it own, Brampton is no longer separate from the town, incorporated into it over time through to urban sprawl.
Entertainment
The area was known for the 'Brampton Mile'. This was a stretch of pubs, approximately a mile long, where a night out would include one drink in each bar. This has become impractical in recent years owing to the closure of nightclubs in the area and pubs such as The Terminus Hotel. These buildings have now been demolished and flats have been erected in their place. The focus now centres on the town itself.
Housing
The area is based around Chatsworth Road, off of which are several housing estates, some of which date from many decades ago. However, new housing is being built all the time and this area is rapidly expanding.
