Tywyn

Tywyn, also known as 'Towyn', is a town and seaside resort of Merionethshire, on the coast of Cardigan Bay.

The name is Welsh; tywyn means 'seashore' or 'sand-dune', and extensive dunes are still to be found to the south towards Aberdovey, and in Tywyn itself the beach and the extensive promenade are key attractions. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the town was developed by a resort, and called 'Towyn-on-Sea'. (Read more)
