Beach is a hamlet, inland despite its name, in the southernmost acres of Gloucestershire, on the lower northern slopes of Lansdown Hill. It is about a mile north-east of Upton Cheyney. It is just a mile and a half north-east of Bitton, the county's southernmost village.
Beach is designated as a conservation area.
During the Civil War the Battle of Lansdowne was fought, on 5 July 1643, in fields nearby Beach.
About the village
Brittons Farm is the major property in the village.
A Forest of Avon Trust community woodland, The Retreat, is to the east of the village. The Retreat was planted in 2000 under a Millennium Commission programme, and previously managed by the Woodland Trust.[1][2]
