Bridge on the Creran at Glenure

The River Creran is a river in the north of Argyllshire, in Lorne, rising on the slopes of several hills here, principally Beinn Fhionnlaidh (3,146 feet) and Sgùrr na h-Ulaidh (3,261 feet), from whose slopes innumerable burns feed the growing stream.

The river curves in an elegant arc from its various sources and carves a glen, Glen Creran, heading south-west. At Glenure it is joined by the River Ure and bridged for the first time, a little below which it broadens into a little loch, Loch Baile Mhic Chailein, where there is a crannog in the waters.

At Druimavuic the river opens into a sea-loch, only to a constricted again at Creagan, below which the waters enter Loch Creran
