Spotland is a township of the ancient parish of Rochdale in Lancashire, that forms a district of the town. The population of the Spotland and Falinge ward at the 2011 census was 10,805.[1] It lies on the River Spodden, and is the home of Spotland Stadium, home of Rochdale A.F.C, and Rochdale Hornets R.F.L.C.

The name Spotland means "area around the Spodden", Spodden referring to the River Spodden, which itself means "spouting stream".

Spotland Primary School lies within the locality on Edmund Street.[2]
