Romford

Romford is a large suburban town in south-western Essex. It formed the administrative centre of the royal Liberty of Havering until it was dissolved in 1892.

New road links and the opening of the railway station in 1839 caused Romford to grow from a modest market town into the major centre it is today, boosted by the suburban growth of London in the 20th century. The town now forms a main commercial, retail, entertainment and leisure town. (Read more)
