Ashreigney is a village in the midst of Devon, about two miles west of the River Taw, across which a further mile beyond stands the village of Chulmleigh. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 446, compared to 540 in 1901.[1]

Within the parish is the small settlement of Riddlecombe, which was a mediæval manor.[1]

The village was recorded in the Domesday Book.

Parish church

The church, St James, is mostly fifteenth century and has a mediæval font.
