Digbeth

Digbeth is an area of Birmingham in Warwickshire, forming a distinctive village in the heart of the city. The name 'Digbeth' belongs both to area and to the main street running through it.

The distinctive identity of Digbeth was caused more than anything by the building of the Birmingham Inner Ring Road, which cast a "concrete collar" as it was known around the centre of the city leaving Digbeth outside and isolated. Though the road has been demolished, Digbeth has maintained its distinct, counter-cultural style. (Read more)
